Limited Government
The United States doesn't give power to itself. Like popular sovereignty, this says that the government's power is only as strong as the people might allow. It also prohibits the government from messing with expression and association.
Other countries have limited governments as well as us, such as Great Britain. Their parliament and monarchy is limited by the Magna Carta. The U.S, on the other hand, is more restricted by a more defined set of rules laid out by the constitution.
